Steps To A Safe Escape
1. Make a Plan
- Draw a map of your home that includes all doors and windows
- Determine two ways out of each room
- Choose an outside meeting place, such as tree or light pole that is a safe distance from the house.
2. Practice
- Run through the plan during the day, and at night at least twice a year.
- Practice different ways to get out of the house.
- Teach children how to escape on their own.
- Close every door as you go through it.

- Get out of the house.
- Never go back in, even for pets or other people.
- If you have to escape through smoke, get low and go under the smoke to get out.
