Robertson Fire Protection District
Prop G (Grow)
April 7th Election Day

What is Proposition G?

The Robertson Fire Protection District is providing Voters information on a ballot initiative for a $9.6 million General Obligation Bond issue. Prop G is on the ballot April 7th, 2026. This proposal does not increase your current tax rate.

The District remains committed to providing the fastest possible response to emergencies, supported by the equipment, training, and personnel needed to save lives and protect property. If approved, Proposition G would fund the construction of a new firehouse and the purchase of equipment intended to support this mission, allowing existing tax revenue to be used more efficiently to serve the community.

Why is Robertson FPD seeking a bond?

The Robertson Fire Protection District is in need of a new firehouse and administrative facility to replace its current building located at 12641 Missouri Bottom Road in Hazelwood. In addition, the District seeks to replace aging emergency equipment and vehicles to better serve the community.

The original portion of the firehouse was constructed in 1973, with administrative offices and firefighter living quarters added in 1994 and 1995. After more than 30 years of continuous use, the facility has fallen into significant disrepair.

Building Issues:

  • Foundation Issues: Ongoing erosion into the adjacent creek has compromised the building’s foundation, resulting in structural concerns and visible cracks in floors and walls, which have also led to moisture intrusion.

  • Strained Plumbing System: The entire plumbing system requires replacement due to severe calcification. This has caused both internal and external leaks, leading to excessive utility costs and the ongoing need to replace toilets, faucets, and piping.

  • Outdated Sewer System: Recurring sewer line failures have resulted in frequent and costly maintenance. Permanent repairs will require drilling through the engine bay to access and replace the line expected to cost thousands.

  • Roof Deterioration: The administrive building's tin roof is in need of full replacement, with ongoing repairs costing the District money better spent on service.

  • Firefighter Work Environment: The current facility does not adequately support personnel needs, with only three operational showers available for a six-member crew and limited functional workspace within the engine bay.

  • Additional Deficiencies: Numerous other costly repairs are needed, including elevator replacement, construction of a new deck, and replacement of windows and lighting systems.

Where will the new fire house be located?

Recently, the 6-acre property located at the corner of Missouri Bottom Road and Dunn Road, went under contract as our anticipated site for a future firehouse. Securing this property marks a key step in planning for the long-term needs of the community. Following recent news of a proposed apartment complex for the site, Robertson Fire Protection District submitted a bid, as the District felt the property would better serve the public as a community-focused firehouse.

What to expect of a new Robertson Firehouse?

A new firehouse would improve EMS and fire service operations, including response times due to its proximity to Dunn Road and Missouri Bottom Road. The facility may also provide space for community-oriented services such as CPR and first aid classes, a public-use meeting room, a Safe Haven Baby Box, and other programs.

Upgraded facilities would also improve working conditions for firefighter-paramedics. Additional space may allow for a more functional work environment, expanded shared and living areas, and shower facilities sufficient for the number of on-duty crew members, which can support cleaning and decontamination following fire responses.
