Background Information:

This Special Meeting is to negotiate a new labor contract with the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF, Local 2665) to replace an agreed upon temporary contract with a term of June 22, 2023 to June 30, 2024 (See link below to current labor contract being negotiated & protocols for negotiations).

These negotiations stem from a lawsuit filed by Robertson FPD against Local 2665 (Case: 23SL-CC00733, see link to petition below). On November 7, 2022, Local 2665 signed a new 4 year term labor contract with the previous Board of Directors, who were all recalled in an election the following day due to allegations of corruption and malfeasance.

The contested contract restricted the new Board's legal authority to manage the District, removed all re-opener clauses, added almost all administrative positions to the bargaining unit, shortened pension vesting schedules, etc. In late 2022, the newly elected Robertson FPD Board challenged the new labor contract as well as an employment contract with the former Chief with similar circumstances in court claiming it violated RSMo Sections 432.070 and 610.021 surrounding execution of government contracts and public records law.

Current lawsuit status:

Judge overseeing the case has sided with the District, voiding the former Chief's contract. Negotiation talks with Local 2665 are ongoing to find an out of court solution.
